Brief Overview
During the early 90's through the great home console war, like Nintendo, Sega wanted its own mascot, something to brand themselves with. Through many a design and several different animals, and characters later Sega's research and development department came up with a blue hedgehog who had the ability to travel at speeds faster than the sound barrier. He would forever be known as Sonic the Hedgehog and would eventually go on to be bigger than Mario and even Mickey Mouse!

Sonic the Hedgehog also went on to several spin offs from several different television shows like Sonic Underground and Sonic X, to his own comic book series and a line of apparel. He also graced many a Sega system and within the last 6 years made the transformation to Nintendo Consoles (Sega's worst nemesis long ago) Playstation, and Microsoft Xbox. He to this day (15 years later) continues to thrive as the perfect mascot.
