The Metroid games are a one of the most successful franchises developed and published by Nintendo. The series spans through several of Nintendo's console starting with Metroid (1986) for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

Sequels were to follow. The Metroid games follow our female protagonist Samus Aran through a science fiction setting which compares to alien movies. The central of all the plots are the terrifying Metroid organisms. The gameplay combines platforming, item collecting, exploration and shooting dynamics. Metroid was also some of the first games to pioneer nonlinear gameplay.
