Advanced Wars is a turned based strategy game in which
you play as the role of a Commanding Officer (Otherwise
known as a CO) and wage war against the Black Hole Army
and different nations that at first seem to be
affiliated with this society.
The series was first known as "Famicon Wars" in Japan,
and it was first developed by Intelligent Systems
(Makers of Fire Emblem as well) and was released for
Famicon Home Computer on August 12th 1988. The Series
never made its way to North American shores until the
release of GameBoy Advanced, and in fact North Americans
would be the only ones to play these games for the
longest time since the September 11th attacks stopped
Nintendo from releasing the games in Japan.
In August 2005 we received 2 new additions to the
series. Advanced Wars Dual Strike (Nintendo DS) and
Battalion Wars (Nintendo GameCube)
